Breakfast Bioblitz at Dunston Staiths
Drop in for a pastry and find out more about the wildlife of Dunston Staiths! Head out with Wild Intrigue to record seasonal wildlife.
Join us at the Staiths Space for a tasty Danish pastry and coffee (or juice!), and find out about the different ways you can discover and record wildlife.
There'll be information about the seasonal birdlife of the Tyne Estuary, and other local wildlife along this part of the Tyne Derwent Way. You can also find out about the new wildflower meadow outside Riverside School, and the newly planted raised beds.
The morning is also an opportunity to take part in a 'mini bioblitz', where people come together to record as many plants, insects, birds (and everything else) as possible.
- You don't need to be a wildlife expert to take part in a bioblitz, and all ages are welcome! Local naturalists Wild Intrigue will be on hand to introduce you to different ways to spot and identify wildlife, including handy free apps such as iNaturalist and Merlin.
- This is a drop-in event, so turn up between 9am and 11am and stay for as long or as little as you like!
- Children with grown-ups are very welcome.
- If you would like to learn about and use wildlife recording apps for the Mini Bioblitz, make sure your phone has good charge.
- Breakfast treats and drinks are complimentary.
You're welcome to just turn up on the day without a ticket, however if you're thinking of coming along please do register (it's handy to know how many Danishes to bring!).
Part of the National Trust Festival of Blossom thanks to Postcode Lottery players.
