Twilight Wildlife Safari

Currently there are no instances scheduled for this event

Embark on a guided, twilight exploration of Gateshead Riverside Park in search of bats and other crepuscular creatures. Tickets from free to £12.

Embark on a circular, twilight walk along the Tyne and Gateshead Riverside Park in search of bats and other crepuscular creatures.

Join local wildlife guides Wild Intrigue for a family-friendly, wild night out on the Gateshead Quayside.

On this sunset exploration of river and woodland we'll tune into our nocturnal senses to look and listen for signs of wildlife activity at dusk, such as the twilight chorus of songbirds. The safari will include an introduction to British and local bats - including the bizarre behaviours and amazing anatomy of these mammals. We will explore Riverside Park with acoustic bat detectors in hand, to eavesdrop on bats as they forage and socialise above the woodland's leafy canopy and along the riverside.

The wildlife we encounter will be recorded as part of ongoing monitoring of the natural environment along the Tyne Derwent Way.

Meet at Pipewellgate Car Park (///elaborate.bugs.grow) where your guide will be waiting to greet you.
